Free color tools for brand palettes
Generate a palette, tune it on the wheel, build shade scales, check contrast and preview it for color blindness.
How to use the generator
- Space bar makes a new palette.
- Lock a color to keep it while you generate.
- Plus and minus make a color lighter or darker.
- Pencil opens a picker. Click a code to copy it.
Take your palette with you
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you pick or upload is sent anywhere or stored.
How it works
Three quick steps
- 1
Make a palette
Press generate, lock what you like, pull colours from an image, or drag around the color wheel.
- 2
Refine and test
Build shade scales, check contrast between any two colours, and preview the palette for color blindness.
- 3
Take it with you
Copy hex codes, JSON or CSS variables, or download a PNG of the palette.
Good to know
- Contrast ratios use the WCAG 2.2 formula and its thresholds: 4.5 to 1 for body text, 3 to 1 for large text and interface parts at AA, 7 to 1 and 4.5 to 1 at AAA.
- Shade scales use OKLCH, a colour space designed so equal steps look equally different. Treat generated colours as starting points and adjust by eye.
- The color-blind preview is an approximate simulation of three common types. Real vision varies.
- Colour on screens varies by display. Check printed work with a proof.
